As for the wine, we will have a huge selection of wines and beers at the cellar door from Australia and the rest of the world's premium regions.
All day from 11am until 5pm Lillydale Estate will be playing games, with wine & food giveaway's, including the traditional "Golden Gumboot Toss", and a horse race that has to be seen to be believed!
For the 'Mover's and Shaker's' out there we have local band
"The Distance"
The Distance possess an incredible warmth and energy that exudes from the band. It's hard not to be sucked into the catchy melodies and flowing harmonies of their original music. This 5 piece band provide classic Australian country rock, with a clever blend of 70's Americana with influences ranging from the early Eagles and Bob Seger to Aussie band The Flood. With a variety of influences shining through in every song, The Distance have a little something for everyone.

The Old Vine at Lillydale Estate
|
Slovenia comes to the Yarra Valley!
‘Old Vine Day’ has grown along with the old vine itself, “Modra Kavcina”, to become one of Australia’s biggest celebration days for the people of Slovenia and the Yarra Ranges.
On Sunday 23rd September 2001, Lillydale Estate hosted the planting of a rootling from the oldest know grape bearing vine in the world. The mother vine, which is over 400 years old, is located in Maribor, Slovenia and each year the city donates a graft from the Old Vine to a selected friendly city. Melbourne was chosen, and the vine was presented to the Shire of Yarra Ranges, who, in turn, invited Lillydale Estate to plant the vine. It is now thriving strongly under our pergola.
The actual planting ceremony day, attended by approximately 400 people from the Melbourne Slovenian community, was a happy, festive event full of traditional food, music, singing, dancing and national dress – and lots of McWilliam’s wines.
The modern version happily raise the bar each year with bands brought from Slovenia, and much more singing and dancing. Each year the festival has grown to become one of the highlights of the Slovenian calendar and has included many by-passers who have no idea what’s going on but come back each year, just for the fun!
Traditionally held in late September,
But is being held on the 6th April, 2008.
